ALINCO would like to be a part of “improving measures to prevent falling from scaffolding”

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan has improved the occupational safety and health regulation to enhance measures to prevent falling from scaffolding. Effective from 1 October 2023 onwards.

  1. Must use double-legged scaffolding for safety

From 1 April 2024 onwards, Japan requires contractors to use double-legged scaffolding in case there is an area for scaffolding installation wider than 1 meter. Including the scaffolding area that is less than 1 meter wide which is possible to install, the double-legged scaffolding must be used as the main basis.

In addition, a gap between the building and the working plank must not exceed 30 centimeters.

  1. Scaffolding must be inspected by an authorized inspector

In the case where there is the use of scaffolding by contractors, scaffolding must be inspected after installation, during use, after any part of the scaffold is dismantled or any part of the scaffolding is adjusted. The scaffolding inspection must be held by inspectors who are licensed and registered according to the Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Law.

After inspection, the inspector's name and inspection results must be recorded and filed as information to be able to audit.
